~ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ~ And so Galatea lives, even though the gods fall silent and the world changes she still goes on. Over the centuries she has been many things - a wife, a widow, a teacher, a pirate, a duchess, a prostitute, and everything in between. She's been burned at the stake, drowned, tortured, and even worshiped. There were times where she used her beauty to get what she wanted and especially manipulate powerful men. But more often than not she has ended up suffering at the hands of men, especially in times when women didn't have many rights which she attributes to her curse. Currently, she is one of the world's most renowned archeologists even though she never goes to events or gallery openings - preferring to do her work in the dark and never openly take credit for it. Dr. Galatea Jones has become a joke in some circles, with some people doubting she even exists. On the side she tracks down rare and sometimes magical artifacts for private buyers. Her main passion is her archeological work. A lot of it comes from the fact that her story has been told for centuries and is so often told wrong. She doesn't wish that fate on anyone else and wants to dig up those that history has forgotten (but she can't) to make sure they are remembered properly. She has an easier time spending time with the dead than she does the living. When she does get to speak to anyone about history or archeology she becomes much more relaxed and lights up. She does long for a deeper human connection. While she has some friends there is no one she's really close to. - started studying archeology in the late 1800s. has since earned several doctorates at universities across the globe. - with few exceptions (the main ones being hades and artemis) she hates the greek pantheon. she has a special hatred for aphrodite and zeus. - for a time she pushed the limits of her immortality and tried to kill herself in various ways but she has since accepted that this is impossible. she's not necessarily suicidal, just weary. |
